Lyrics

Di girl Djs dem in Jamaica most times dont get any props from listeners as well as pundits and long time affiliates of the music industry. Contrary to the belief that female Djs are not as good as male Djs, there are several "wicked" Djs especially from back in the days that lyrically rivaled and outperformed their male counterparts.

Today we have Lady Saw who has been in the business for a long time and has earned the respect of many individuals on the dancehall scene. She has consistently shown her versatility on the mic as well as her lyrical prowess. There are not many males that can boast the success that she has. Unfortunately her success is not mimiced by many other female Djs. Only a few such as Cecile and Tanya Stephens have been able to gain international recognition and gain props from the entertainment industry.

Despite Tanya Stephens' success on the international and regional stage, many Jamaicans still "dont give this chick much props". This is sad because "dis gyal bad". Serious, she lyrically untouchable by many of her peers, she in a class by herself.

I heard one of her songz on the radio this morning, I dont know the name of the song, but the lyrics goes summin like dis:

I wish you woulda treat me like your glock, I woulda love it if you keep me pon cock
I wish you woulda treat me like your yacht, keep me wet while the waves dem a rock
Why you cant stay pon me like the corner, keep your lips pon me like your marijuana
I woulda love it if you treat me like the club, stay up inna me whole night just a bump 'n grind 'n rub
You dont understand what your woman needs from her man
While you deh pon the streets all the time, just bear this in mind

HOOK
These streets dont love you like I do, you need fi know that
You wanna keep your woman loving you then you need fi show that
The love we have weh did take so much effort fi build, you about fi blow that
But just like a played out jersey, you about fi get throwback

I dont give justice to the song at all because it was the first time I heard it, so I am just as guilty as other peeps who dont give respect to Jamaica talent but know every hip hop song that has no susbstance but are simply packaged material.

In the song Tanya speaks about wanting her man to take more notice of her and spend time and energy on her, like he does other things: hanging out with frenz, chillin on the streetz etc. She makes "crazy" sexual analogies in a witty and provocative manner that "caa" be replicated by anyone. She gets two points across easily: She want her man to pay attention, and she want him to do sexual things to her. She speaks to the sexual things using the things he does without her, or using the things he spends his time doing rather than hangin with her.

[for example: Why you cant stay pon me like the corner, keep your lips pon me like your marijuana]
"Noone cant bite her shit, she hard!"

Sorry Tanya "dat you caa bus like Ele even though his shit sucks lyrically", maybe you should sell out like other artists :).

Guys I think should become a producer, I Love music and can spot talent
I have some producer experience (bet y'all didnt know this) :)lol
I produced a couple Jingles for a couple Ads :), from the beat to the creative (lyrics) everything with a well known dancehall producer. I know they're two different things right(lmao)
But serious maybe I could you never know
